Update: The Koran, Barack Obama, And Thomas Jefferson

In recent weeks, the Obama administration has frequently made references to the possibility of reaching out to “the moderate elements of the Taliban” as a way of resolving the war in Afghanistan.

However, such a policy does bring some questions to my mind.

One of which is:

Just how do you define a “moderate” Islamic jihadist?

Because make no mistake about it, that is exactly what members of the Taliban are.

Otherwise, they probably wouldn’t have become part of the Taliban in the first place.

Perhaps a “moderate” member of the Taliban is a suicide bomber who only targets grown men, but not women and children.

President Obama obviously is not a student of history.

And he surely has no concept of warfare, otherwise he would be following one of the first rules of any conflict, which is “Know Thy Enemy.”

So in the (forlorn) hope that President Obama won’t put even more U.S. troops at risk, or further endanger the safety of all of America, we are once again offering a history lesson for the President, which we originally presented back in June:

During his recent tour of the Mid-East, President Obama made many inaccurate references as to the place of Islam in the history of modern civilization.

The fact that the majority of them were incorrect seemed to be a moot point, as the apparent point of the trip appeared to be for the President to apologize for America being such an evil country, and that now that he is in charge, American and Islamic cultures can live in peace and harmony.

And among his many miscues made in the hope of getting radical Islamists to lay down their arms and give all of America a group hug, he did get one thing right.

The fact that Thomas Jefferson kept a copy of the Koran (Qur’an) in his Presidential library.

Allah only knows why Mr. Obama would cite Jefferson’s ownership of the Koran as an attempt to show solidarity between America and the Muslim world.

Well Mr. President, I’m not quite sure how to break this news to you, but Thomas Jefferson did not have a copy of the holy book of Islam in order to learn more of the various religions of the world.

He kept it for reference!

As in an effort to learn more about his, and America’s, foes.

President Obama, as do most American’s, believe that our battle against radical Islam began with the attacks of 9-11, or perhaps with the first World Trade Center bombing.

Mr President, as you do with so many other things, once again you have the wrong idea.
This country has been fighting the fanatics who have perverted the teachings of the holy book of Islam since the time Jefferson was President, hence his ownership of the book.

For over a thousand years, Muslim pirates traveled along the coastline of Africa seizing women and young boys to sell off to slave traders.

This became a concern for America shortly after our country came into being, as after the Revolutionary War, what were now American merchant ships no longer had the protection of the Royal Navy.

Muslim pirates, under the control of an Islamist warlord who ruled Algiers, began attacking American merchant ships and enslaving their Christian crews.

These actions were leading to the the destruction of American trade in the Mediterranean, so in 1784 the Continental Congress attempted to negotiate a treaty with the four Barbary Coast States, and formed a panel with Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin as members to carry out negotiations.

John Adams held the belief that paying tribute to the pirates was the simplest way to restore the safe passage of the merchant ships. (Obama also totally twisted Adam’s statements during his speech as a means to achieving his own ends. Hope and Change is one thing, the truth is for suckers in Obama’s world.)

Jefferson,  fearing that there would be no end to the demands for tribute, disagreed, and wanted matters settled by military force.

In a negotiating session, Jefferson and Adams questioned the Algerian ambassador as to the reasons behind such hostile actions towards the United States, when there had been no previous contact between America and the Muslim world.

They received the following reply:

“Islam was founded on the laws of their Prophet, that it was written in the Quran that all nations that did not acknowledge it’s authority were sinners,that it was the right and duty of all Muslims to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Muslim who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise.”

Where have we heard that before?

Jefferson’s recommendation of the use of force to end the piracy did not prevail, and for the next 15 years the American government paid the Muslims millions of dollars to ensure the safe passage of ships and as ransom for captured crews.

Jefferson was proven correct when he had said that the amount of money demanded would be ever-increasing, by the year 1800 the amount being paid out came to nearly 20 percent of the revenue the American government was taking in.

All of that was about to change.

Shortly after his inauguration as President, Jefferson declared that the United States would spend “Millions for defense but not one cent for tribute”, and informed Congress that he was dispatching American warships, along with a force of U.S. Marines to the Muslim Barbary Coast.

Intense naval bombardment, as well as shore raids by the Marines began to take their toll on the pirate havens.

The end of Muslim piracy was sealed when the U.S. Marines marched across the Egyptian dessert into Tripolitania, leading to the surrender of Tripoli.

This military action was the origin of the immortal verse in the Marine Corps hymn “From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli…”

Jefferson knew that the majority of the followers of the Muslim faith were a peaceful people.
He also had the foresight to know that appeasement was not the solution to a conflict with any group, regardless of their national origins or religious beliefs, that declared themselves to be sworn enemies of America.

President Obama, I respectfully suggest that before you use Thomas Jefferson, or any of the other great leaders this country, as an example of anything, that you study some American history first.

Try and learn just what it is you are talking about.

After all, you did say in response to a question at a White House press conference that you like to know what you are talking about before you comment on a matter.

So why not take a break from enjoying the sound of your own voice and inform yourself beforehand.

Then perhaps, at least on one issue,  you can try telling the truth in order to make your point.

Do The Benefits Of Jihadist Training Camps In America Outweigh The Risks?

We just did a story on what we feel is the failure of the Department of Homeland Security to keep America safe.

And it generated comments from two sides of the fence, both whom claim to have experience in undercover intellegence operations.

Of course, we have no means to verify or disprove undercover ops experience of the commenters.

One individual, going under the pseudonym Cherokee Parks, clearly understood the satirical nature of our implying that Janet Napolitano was getting her information from us.
And the point we were trying to make.
The other didn’t.

Regardless, the other person went on about how we have no idea of what is being done in order to keep America safe.
And stated that our “exaggerated journalism”  “reflects poorly on all of us.”
This individual also took the position that these jihadist training camps on American soil are common knowledge.

Let’s tackle that last one first.

After we closed up shop, Salvaterra and I went to one of our favorite spots to get a pizza and a few beers.
We are fairly well-know at this place, and we publicly asked the people there if they had ever heard of terrorist training camps here in America.
Out of roughly 40 people who were in the place, not one of them had ever heard of such a thing.

So much for exaggerated journalism.

Now, as to this person’s other position that everything that can be done is being done, we have one word:

Bull*hit!

Neither of us have any experience in intellegence gathering operations.
What we do have is common sense.

Which leads us to ask, what possible benefit is there to be gained by allowing these camps to exist?

Even if there is a CIA or FBI agent working undercover in one of these terrorist training grounds, what information is this agent likely to learn?

If the head jihadist receives word that another 9-11 style attack is forthcoming, will that person really be stupid enough to share that information with everyone in the camp?
Net gain.
Nothing.

Perhaps this person would learn of an additional training camp opening at another location.

Seeing as how the DHS doesn’t see fit to do anything as to the camps it does know about, what good does this information do?

We need someone to explain to us how in the world allowing these camps to operate right here in America is an effective strategy in keeping us safe.

Because it is our opinion that a group of terrorists who are already in this country, and could decide at any moment to leave the camp in order to kill civilians or to destroy an American city are a threat that needs to be dealt with in no uncertain terms.
James Bond tactics be damned.

And we can’t place all of the blame on Napolitano’s shoulders.

Former DHS directors Tom Ridge and Michael Chertoff are just as guilty for allowing this.

What is different now is, what do you think would would happen if say, members of a gun club or a veterans organization were to open up a similar style training camp?

Janet “you’re all potential domestic terrorists” Napolitano would call out a SWAT team and swarm the place faster than you could blink.

Of course, offending America’s veterans and offending a group of Muslim terrorists are two different things.

Again, we have no background in intellegence operations.

Therefore, we need someone to explain to us how allowing these camps to exist outweighs the dire risk that they pose.

A risk that could become a reality at any time.

The Department Of Homeland Security Finally Catches Up With The Freedom Medium

Janet Napolitano and her crew at the Department Of Homeland Security finally found us.

She must have stumbled across us, read some of our commentary, watched the Fox News videos, and started to become aware of what we have been talking about for months.

And we don’t mind her taking credit for our hard work, we just wish she had started paying attention a little sooner.

On October 12th, she made the following statements in an interview with Bloomberg TV:

“It is fair to say there are individuals in the United States who ascribe to al-Qaeda-type beliefs.”
“And so it makes information-sharing, it makes effective law enforcement and it makes the shared responsibility of law enforcement ever so important.”

Ms. Napolitano, we shared the sort of information that you are just now talking about months ago!

Take a look at updates to just two of our reports on this topic:

Back in April, we found that there are at least 35 Jihadist training camps right here in America, primarily on the eastern end of the country.
The Fox News video below outlines the practices of this movement, but our research uncovered more troubling information.

For instance, in just one example of what the government is allowing to take place on our own soil, there is a 50 acre jihadist training compound near the town of Red House in Virginia.
If you are down that way, it’s easy enough to find as there is a street sign pointing out the road to Sheikh Gilani Lane.
Sheikh Gilani is reported to be a close ally of Osama bin Laden.
Mubarak Ali Gilani is on record as having said that he wants to “purify” Islam through violent actions.

We also uncovered the fact that at all of these training camps, there is a sign identifying the groups as “The Muslims of the Americas.”
What you won’t see are any signs explaining that the name these groups use is an offshoot of Jamaat ul-Fuqra, a sister agency of Al-Qaeda.

In another example, there is a terrorist training camp near Hancock, N.Y. that calls itself “Islamberg.”
It is run by Ghulam Mustafa, another individual with close ties to Osama bin Laden.
Mustafa plays an important role in Al-Qaeda’s planning and financing.

If all of this wasn’t disturbing enough, then I came across this story in the New York Post reporting how members of al-Shabab, a radical Islamic group based in Somalia that has ties to both Al Qaeda and Somali pirates, have taken 20 young men from Minnesota to fight in Somalia. The facts we uncovered, along with the information in the video, are truly alarming.
Maybe the DHS should hire someone to read reports like ours, and to watch for similar news reports like this one:

Then, in July, we did an article reporting on how nearly 500 members of Hizb-Ut-Tahrir held a convention in a Chicago-area Hilton Hotel.

Although not officially recognized as a terrorist organization by the State Department, many terrorism experts, one example of which is shown in the video appearing a little later in this article, consider them to be more of a threat to America’s security than al-Qaeda.

The man appearing in the video, Walid Phares, explains how Hizb-Ut-Tahrir trains youth between the ages of 9 to 18 in the ideology of “Khilafah”, which is a fundamental belief in the rule of Islamic law no matter what the means that may be taken to achieve it.

A spokesman for the group, Mohammad Malkawi claims that the group condemns terrorism in any form.

That statement would appear to be at odds with actions taken by some of the groups alumni, such as Khalid Skeikh Mohammed, the alleged plotter of the 9-11 attacks, to name just one.

Malkawi also made the statement that the objective of the group is ”To create an Islamic state of Khilafah in the Muslim World.”

“The Muslim World.”

Last time we checked, Chicago was not the heartland of the Muslim world.

And as we said at the time, none of this will come as a surprise to our regular readers and subscribers.

And if we are paying close attention to these things, then why aren’t the people who are in charge of keeping us safe doing so?

How in the hell could Ms. Napolitano and her crew at the DHS fail to recognize that perhaps a convention of 500 supporters of a radical Islamic ideology, as well as numerous terrorist training camps scattered across America are a serious threat to the safety and security of this country?

Good God Almighty Janet, you’re just figuring that out NOW?

Where the hell have you been?

We have nowhere near the access to information that you do.

We have been talking about it for months, you are just coming to realize it now?

Maybe if you were one of our subscribers you wouldn’t be so far behind the curve.

OK Ms. Napolitano, we gave you the information.

Barack Obama Made Me A Star!

In my wildest dreams, I had no idea that Barack Obama becoming President would make me famous.

However, I do have a dilemma.

Read the article below, then tell me how I can agree with the President on being on the road to stardom when the very reason I am is because I don’t agree with him.

 President Obama turned media critic during his Sunday show marathon, zinging television news during interviews on CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC for making stars out of people who are “rude.” Obama wants bookers to reward “decency” and “civility” in public discourse.

We’ll see.

Obama seemed determined to make this point because the president used remarkably similar language during his interviews with Sunday morning show hosts, deploring the state of discourse, especially on cable news shows.

Obama, who also sat down with Univision, snubbed the outlet where many of his loudest critics have found a perch — Fox News Channel.

The interviews were taped back-to-back Friday afternoon in the Roosevelt room of the White House.When I walked by the Roosevelt Room earlier on Friday en route to an interview with an Obama official in the West Wing, the room looked like a television studio, stuffed with lights, wires, cameras and other equipment.

Obama of course, owns the top bully pulpit, and can get on television almost at will. He’s done more interviews at this stage of his presidency — eight months ago today — than George Bush and Bill Clinton. A standard Obama line through the years has been that you don’t have to be disagreeable to disagree. But as he noted on Sunday, that does not get you on the news.

On CNN, Obama told John King, host of “State of the Union”:

“I think it’s important for the media — you know, not to do any media-bashing here — to recognize that right now, in this 24-hour news cycle, the easiest way to get on CNN or FOX or any of the other stations, MSNBC, is to say something rude and outrageous.

How To Annoy The Hell Out Of Congress

For quite some time now, we here at the Freedom Medium have been urging all of our readers to contact their members of Congress and make their voices heard regarding their opposition to health care “reform.”

Some of the biggest voices in the conservative ranks have been instrumental in pointing out the twisting of facts and the outright lies of the supporters of what is quite possibly the worst piece of legislation ever written.

For instance, after reading this entry from Michelle Malkin, it appears to me that Joe Wilson was right!

Glenn Beck asked the question is it healthcare or a freedom grab?

The Mobfather, Rush Limbaugh, asked Whose Swastika’s, Speaker Pelosi?

All of this, combined with millions of you contacting your members of Congress, showing up at town hall meetings, and attending Tea Parties is having the desired effect.

Not only is public support for Obama’s healthcare plan ebbing, now Congressional supporters of the plan are bickering with each other!

Don’t stop now, the battle is not over, we have to keep up the pressure, but all of us making our voices heard is making a difference!

Senate Democrats are going to have to move forward on healthcare without a single Republican supporter after Sen. Olympia Snowe said Tuesday she could not back the Finance Committee’s bill.

Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) failed to win any Republican backer despite weeks of intense negotiations behind closed doors to strike a deal.

Snowe (Maine), who was one of three Republicans who backed the $787 billion economic stimulus package, was being lobbied heavily by the White House, and some centrists view her refusal to strike a deal with Baucus as troubling. But concerns about how the plan would be paid for prompted her to back away in the hours before its release.

 “I do have concerns and I’m not sure they can be addressed before he issues [legislation] tomorrow,” Snowe said.

Faced with the prospect of having to pass legislation without Republican votes, Obama’s chief political adviser David Axelrod met with Senate and House Democrats on Tuesday to stress the importance of party unity on healthcare reform — a message most directly aimed at centrists who now are critical to its passage.

In Defense of ACORN

It sure has been a tough couple of weeks for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN).  First they had 11 Miami employees arrested September 9th on voter fraud charges, then the first “Big Pimpin’” video was released to BigGovernment.com the next day.  Since then there have been two more big pimpin’ videos, the Census Bureau has cut ties with ACORN, the Senate has voted to cut housing funding to ACORN, and a whole bunch of local investigations into the organization have begun.

All of this has been a long time comin’ for the criminal enterprise ACORN, but with all of the beatings they are taking since the release of the big pimpin’ videos, there is one point I have to raise in defense of ACORN.

At least the pimp and the prostitute that are portrayed in the latest videos can afford the mortgage payments they are applying for! This is a big difference from the usual ACORN Housing situation where ACORN coerces a bank or lending institution into giving mortgages to people who cannot afford them. That is the practice that led to the housing market crash and the ensuing financial crisis that has resulted in our current recession.

Admittedly this is not a powerful defense for ACORN given the content of the big pimpin’ videos, but in all reality there is no defense for this organization. What has been revealed is just how versatile and pervasive a criminal enterprise ACORN is. Thankfully the work of James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles has resulted in more reprecussions than Republican congressmen and senators have been able to inflict on ACORN for years now. And James O’Keefe’s conduct since the first tape was released has been nothing short of heroic. Let’s hope for the country’s sake that the pressure continues to be turned up on ACORN until the nuts crack.

The President Might Soon Have Chinese Style Control Over The Internet

It’s long been the practice of the Chinese Government to block or shut down any sites it deems a threat to their national security. Soon our government may have the power to do the same thing.

Senator Jay Rockefeller has introduced a bill in the Senate giving the President the power to, “may declare a cybersecurity emergency and order the limitation or shutdown of Internet traffic to and from any compromised Federal Government or United States critical infrastructure information system or network,” and, “may order the disconnection of any Federal Government or United States critical infrastructure information systems or networks in the interest of national security.” The bill also requires, “(The President) shall direct the periodic mapping of Federal Government and United States critical infrastructure information systems or networks, and shall develop metrics to measure the effectiveness of the mapping process.” Therefore any network that the President deems critical will be mapped by the federal government with no over site. Wouldn’t this be a violation of the Fourth Amendment, protections against unreasonable searchs and seizures? Guess who decides which information systems are critical, the President or his designee (The Cybersecurity Czar). Whats to stop this or any future President from limiting access to or shutting down a political opponent’s network, or “mapping” it to retrieve private information?

Senate Bill 773, also has some other interesting things in it, to be compliant with the law all major networks must now have a certified cybersecurity professional. Who must be trained and licensed by the government. The Government is go to offer scholarships for the cybersecurity certification, but, “shall require scholarship recipients, as a condition of receiving a scholarship under the program, to agree to serve in the Federal information technology workforce for a period equal to the length of the scholarship following graduation if offered employment in that field by a Federal agency.” With no mention of compensation of course. What to they call this indentured servitude, “Scholarship for Service.” What do you bet there a plenty of Organizing for America, automatons who would gladly map (spy on) private networks for Obama?

A panel will have to approve all domain contracts. There for this Presidentially appointed panel once again with no over site will decides who can purchase and keep there domain address.

1984 anyone? What is this country coming to?
