Why I won’t vote for Chris Page 

To be fair, I am a long time Lou Barletta supporter. I however would consider voting for another if there was a better candidate.

I was initially curious about Christopher Paige.
That was until I found out who he is, what he thinks the proper role of Government is, and what he thinks of people who believe what I believe.

 
In a press release Paige wrote, “Barletta’s flirtations with and exploitations of racism are not acceptable to moderate Democrats and Independents – the people who control the outcome in this District.  His attempts to make Hazleton a place where Neo-Nazis and racists feel at home is not acceptable to the businesses we need to attract to revive our economy.
His blatant appeals to racist stereotypes are not consistent with tourism, the life’s blood of our economy.  [When's the last time you heard anyone plan a vacation for Hazleton?]  Do we want the Poconos to be associated with the Neo-Nazis and other racists Barletta attracted to Hazleton in support of his anti-immigrant policies?
In this economy, people are looking for any excuse to take their business elsewhere, so we just can’t afford Barletta’s racist ramblings against immigrants.  [Don't bother arguing it's not racist - the signs at "anti-immigrant" rallies say all you need to know.
For instance, one said, "The Majority will become a Minority."  Also, if this is about preventing terrorism, then why are we building a wall on the Mexican border when the terrorists have always used the Canadian border?  Shouldn't we close that border first?]¹” 

 I apologize for such a long quote, but I thought that every sentence of this quote is important in bringing to light what he thinks of people like myself, and Mayor Barletta.

Putting a spin on a page right out of the Arlen Specter playbook, another Pennsylvania resident has switched political parties, in this case from Democrat to Republican, in the hopes of forestalling Lou Barletta’s 2010 run for Congress.

Until March of 2009, Monroe County’s Christopher Paige was registered as a Democrat before switching his voter registration to Republican.

And this sudden switch of party alliances raises a number of red flags.

Barletta is seeking to defeat long-time incumbent Paul Kanjorski for a seat representing Pennsylvania’s 11th Congressional District.

This will be Barletta’s third attempt to unseat Kanjorski, he made previous runs for the office in 2002 and 2008.

Some political insiders feel that the reason Barletta lost in 2002 was due primarily to a re-districting which took place shortly before the election, moving a county that was a Democrat stronghold from the 10th Congressional district and making it part of the 11th.

And still others feel that the only reason his 2008 bid failed was due to the fact that in the areas where he did not receive the majority of the votes, those areas voted a straight-party ticket, and Kanjorski won by riding on Barack Obama’s coat tails.

Known by many as “The Architect”, Rove was Senior Advisor and Deputy Chief Of Staff to George W, Bush.

During the course of his speech, one of the comments that Rove made was that it was fine for Republicans to disagree with their political opponents, but that they should do so in a polite and respectful manner.

That remark made clear to me and a lot of the others in attendance why the Republican party has slipped from it’s former place of prominence in national politics.

With all due respect Mr. Rove, that is a load of crap!

The Republican party, and the majority of conservatives in general, place far too much emphasis on being perceived as the “nice guys.”

In the meantime, no tactic is too underhanded for our opponents.

The smear campaign directed against Sarah Palin is just one example.

Yet the Karl Roves’, the Newt Gingrichs’, and the other leading lights of the conservative movement stil feel that a passionless statement of principles is the key to success.

BULLS**T!!!

It’s about time that someone in the GOP takes notice that the reason the left hates and fears Rush Limbaugh is because he is not afraid to call these people out for the liars that they are!

They are so afraid of this man that there is still a huge movement among liberals to bring back the “Fairness Doctrine” as a means of silencing him.

Limbaugh’s methods are something that the conservative movement needs to work into their agenda.

Now I’m not saying that every leader of the Republican party become clones of Limbaugh.

However, back when Tim Geithner was first being considered for Secretary of the Treasury, I would have loved to have seen him and someone like Glenn Beck appear together on Meet The Press.

And if Beck had gotten up from his chair, gotten in Geithner’s face and demanded that he explain to the American public why a tax cheat should run the Treasury Department, and refused to sit down until he received an answer, the GOP just might have more of an influence on policy than it does today.

The man admits that he and his fellow Democrats lied, phrases it nicely but in effect states that someone would have to be pretty stupid to believe what he said, and then gloats over the fact that people did fall for it!

Congressman, did it ever occur to you that perhaps this tactic worked because families were concerned about the well-being of their loved ones?

If by some chance I ever find myself on a political talk show opposite Congressman Kanjorski, I am going to walk up to him, ask him to face the camera, and explain to the families of the members of the armed force who were killed in action how lying about ending the war was justified in order to win an election.

I have great respect for Karl Rove’s political acumen, but I cannot agree with him on this point.

Being polite to anyone from a political party who thinks that winning an election is more important than the lives of America’s military members is simply asking too much from me.

And the following is a prime example of just how commonplace this has become. The report first aired over a year ago, but the meaning of the message is still the same.

In direct violation of Federal law, Pennsylvania 11th District Congressman Paul Kanjorski wants to earmark 5.6 million dollars to build a parking garage in his hometown.

A building that has been empty for three years.

But according to the Congressman, this is “free money.”

Sorry Congressman, these funds don’t appear out of thin air, this is our money you are talking about.

And when questioned about the Federal statute he is violating, his response is:
“I don’t think the rule should have any attention paid to it. In the Congress we have our own rules.”

Congress has rules?

This is the first I’m hearing about it.

Representative Paul Kanjorski – (D) Pennsylvania – told CSPAN last month that on September 18, 2008 within an “hour or two” $550 billion was pulled out of U.S. money market accounts prompting the Treasury Department to get involved. Treasury acted quickly to  ”close the operation” down and announce a gurantee of $250,000 per account in order to ease the panic. He went on to say that by Treasury’s own estimations, up to $5.5 trillion would have been pulled out of the financial system of the U.S. by the end of the day. Had they not gotten involved, this would have led to a collapse of the world economy and annihilation of the U.S. financial system.

The next day the President held a press conference in the Rose Garden at the White House, hinting at the previous day’s averted disaster, and announcing new measures by the federal government, the Federal Reserve, and the FDIC to ease the decrease in confidence. Those aware of what was happening at the time then used these events to get the “bailout bill” eventually pushed through Congress and signed into law last October. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson then forced the TARP money onto the country’s major banks, whether they wanted it or not,  and now members of Congress, including Kanjorski, are unhappy with how those banks are spending the money.

Though much of this has been tied to the failure of Lehman Brothers three days before, it is still yet to be revealed who exactly was behind the draw down of the $550 billion from the money market accounts. It is an enormous amount of money to be pulled in one or two hours. It would be very interesting to find out which institutions, individuals, and/or countries were behind the massive electronic run on the banking system and if it was a coordinated effort. Hopefully the truth on this subject will continue to come to light and these questions will be answered.
