A Modern-Day Declaration Of Independence

July 4, 2009 · carl · Print This Article

Today we mark the anniversary of America’s Declaration of Independence.

Fifty-six men signed what what is beyond a doubt one of the greatest political documents ever written.

What price did they ultimately pay for this heroic action?

During the Revolutionary War, some were captured by the British Army and held as prisoners of war, many had their homes vandalized and looted, and in some cases destroyed, one had his wife held as a captive of the British for months, many were left destitute at the end of the war, and one suffered the loss of a son killed in battle.

Now, for those of you who may not have ever read the full text of this document, click here to do so.

None of what is being written here today is meant to be construed as advocating the taking up of arms against the government.

However, there are some left among us that realize that the challenges America faces today are similar to those that prompted such men as Thomas Jefferson, Button Gwinnett, Richard Henry Lee, and fifty three others to take a stand against oppression and tyranny.

Some of the challanges that our government is forcing us to face today are:

Appeasement of our country’s enemies.
Failure to heed the will of the people.
Looting of the public treasury.
The imposition of unfair and unwarranted taxes.
Exceeding Constitutional authority.

And the list goes on and on.

We as patriotic Americans refuse to simply stand by and allow this to happen.

So in a latter day version of the same spirit of justice shown by 56 brave men 233 years ago, let it be known throughout the land:

“We shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”

And to this we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.

I’d sign on to that if Obama gets reelected.

I will sign on to this right now. America has a fraudulent President who leads an anti-American regime of Socialists out to cripple the country from within. That’s not conjecture, that’s their stated goal. We need to do everything we can to oppose not just Obama but the entire movement of Liberalism. It has evolved into something incompatible with Liberty and the existence of American ideals.

Where do I sign and when do we send a copy to Obama?

    carl on July 6th, 2009 6:32 am

    Scott
I have sent a copy to the White House e-mail.
Now for sure I am on Janet Napolitano’s “potential domestic terrorist list.”
Thanks for the support and be sure to come back and see us again.

    Michael
    Thank you for joining in.
And your comment is right on the money.
Stick around, we have just begun to fight.

    Lou
    Sign on now.
We, as conservatives, cannot fall into the same trap we fell into in 2008.
We were so concernedwith defeating Obama that we handed he a Congress that will go along with his Marxist policies.
The battle now is not for 2012, that will come, right now we need to focus on 2010, we need to get true conservatives into the hall of Congress to put a stop to the amount of damage our Socialist President is able to do.

    Carl,
I agree with you completely, I am focused on 2010. I still believe our system will correct itself.
I know a lot of people are ready for a revolution, and I understand, but I’m not just yet. I’m ready to fight in 2010 and 2012. I hope that the debacle that is Obama’s Presidency will be apparent by then.
I believe Conservatives can take back Congress in 2010, but we need a more unified message. If the people we choose to represent us can send a clear message, we can win.

    Lou
    Amen brother.
And the first part of that has to be a return to basic conservative principles.
