YES WE CAN! Damnit, We CAN Stop Sotomayor! YES WE CAN!
May 31, 2009
Most of the you who are reading this can probably stop reading right now.
Because unless you are ready to get the hell off of your dead butt and actually DO something, reading this is just going to be a waste of your time.
For the rest of you, there IS a way to stop Sonia Sotomayor from being appointed to the Supreme Court.
Seven Senators need to show some courage, they need to forget this crap about Sotomayors’ nomination being a foregone conclusion.
There are seven Republicans who are members of the Senate Committee of the Judiciary.
They are:

You can (and should) make your voice heard, even if your senator isn’t listed above.

The phone number for the main switchboard is (202) 224-3121
I’m not lisiting the information for the Democrats who are members of the committee, I feel pretty strongly that they will vote in favor of Sotomayor, regardless of what they may hear from their constituents.
And we don’t need them.
According to Senate Judiciary Committee Rule IV:
“Debate shall be terminated if the motion to bring the matter to a vote without further debate passes with ten votes in the affirmative, one of which must be cast by the minority.”
This means that if no Republican members of the committee vote in favor of further debate, Sotomayors’ nomination is dead in the water!!!!
If your Senator is not on the list, contact the Senator for your state and make your feelings known, these people do talk to each other.
For those of you whose Senator IS on the list, when you call or e-mail your Senator urging a vote against Sotomayor, hit them where a politician really feels it.
Tell them to forget this claptrap of being labeled as an obstructionist if they fail to go along with voting in favor of Sotomayor.
Make them aware of what voter backlash really is.
Let them know, in no uncertain terms, that if they fail to do the right thing, not only will you not vote for them the next time they are up for re-election, you will work actively for whoever is running against them!
Barack Obama is testing the Republican Party, thinking they will roll over and play dead on this issue.
And if they do, not only will he have been given a mandate for whatever socialist schemes he wants to ram down America’s throat for the rest of his administration, he will have a judge sitting on the Supreme Court who will carry on his legacy long after he is out of office.
A Member Of President Obama’s Staff To Appear On “Dancing With The Stars”
May 30, 2009
Theoretically, it must be possible that Robert Gibbs can give a straightforward answer to a direct question.
It hasn’t happened yet, but the potential is there.
That is why I think he should take a break from his duties as White House Press Secretary and become a contestant on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars.
Watch the first video, and take note that about the 30 second mark that Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor makes the statement that “the court of appeals is where policy is made.”
She then tries to shrug off that claim once she remembers that she is on camera, but it is patently obvious to myself, as well as the other individuals that appear on the panel, that her statement is an honest reflection of her convictions.
Now watch the second video, where White House Press Secretary is questioned about her statement:
Did you see the way he danced around that question without ever providing a coherent answer?
Her statement was “taken out of context?”
What the hell video was Gibbs watching?
I haven’t seen footwork like that since Fred Astair and Ginger Rogers stopped making movies.
However, I am willing to give Mr. Gibbs a second chance, so allow me to ask:
“Hey Robert, it’s common knowledge that it is not the job of a judge to make policy.
Especially a judge of the Supreme Court.
Seeing as how your boss’s nominee feels differently, how the hell does he justify her viewpoint?”
The Obama Administration’s Next Step In Dealing With Terrorism
May 29, 2009
I disagree with just about every policy or proposal put forth by the Obama adminsitration.
However, I still consider myself a patriotic American, and therfore want to humbly offer President Obama my advice.
Among the methods I have heard projected for dealing with terrorist harboring rogue nations such as Iran seem to me to simply be a continuation of some of the methods tried by the Bush administration.
Among them are:
United Nations resolutions
Negotiation
Diplomacy
Face-to-face dialogues
Economic sanctions
And I am sure there are many that I am leaving out.
However, as in any area of life, it is always a good idea to have a backup plan in place and ready to go, just in case your plans fail to achieve the results you are hoping for.
So with ending the threat of terrorism against the United States such a vital issue to the security, the safety, and the future of America and all of her citizens, you may want to consider the method outlined in the video below:

If It Works In California, It Can Work For The Rest Of America
May 28, 2009
You know, the older I become, I see more and more things that I never thought would come to pass.
I never thought I would see General Motors about to go belly-up.
I never thought I would see modern-day American citizens holding Tea Parties.
I never thought I would see Congress pass a bill to draft young Americans into a Civilian Defense Force.
And I never thought I’d see that bastion of left-wing liberalism, California, finally wake up and smell the coffee.
And that I would hope that the rest of America would follow California’s lead.

Myth:Gun Control Reduces Crime
May 27, 2009
Salvaterra and I were sitting in the office the other day, discussing how occasionally you can explain something to someone who is just plain stupid, but that it is damn-near impossible with someone who either completely lacks common sense, or someone who is so blinded by a particular ideology that they simply choose to ignore any factual information that undermines their premise.
There is perhaps no better proof of that statement than regarding the issue of gun control.
Time and time again select members of Congress, the mainstream media, and various other individuals that suffer from the delusion that if only America had stricter gun laws, we would have less crime.
This has to be some sort of mental disease.
There is an overwhelming amount of data that proves that not only do restrictions on firearms ownership fail to lower crime rates, in the vast majority of situations the exact opposite is the case!
I think that it is long past the time when those of us who believe in the Second Amendment stand up and (theoretically) bitch-slap these gun grabbers who claim that less guns equals less crime, when there is overwhelming evidence to the contrary. and demand that they explain their position when everything points out that they are simply misguided fools.

The USMC May Be Cheating My Daughter
May 26, 2009
My daughter, who will be a senior in college this fall, is going to be enlisting in the United States Marine Corps after graduation.
At the moment, she is waiting until the Corps’ time restrictions allow her to join the delayed entry program.
She has paid numerous visits to her Marine Recruiter, on some of which I have accompained her.
She is a monthly participant in what the USMC calls “poolee” exercises, tasks designed to give recruits a (very) basic idea of what life will be like during basic training.
Yet in all of these sessions, one detail has been overlooked.
This may be due to a simple oversight on the part of the recruiter, or perhaps it is due to a change in Marine Corp policy.
And I must impart a little history lesson in order for you to understand what I am talking about.
On November 10, 1775, the Continental Congress, meeting in Philadelphia passed a resolution stating that “two Battalions of Marines be raised” for service as landing forces with the fleet.
This resolution established the Continental Marines and marked the birth date of the United States Marine Corps.
The Marine Corps came into being inside of a bar.
Recruits were drawn in with promises of free beer & 233 years later, they are still one of, if not the finest, fighting force the world has ever known.
And yet, it spite of this proud history, not once have either my daughter or myself been offered free beer!
However, proud patriots that we both are, we are willing to overlook this minor shortcoming.
Semper Fi!

Janet Napolitano Goes Into Hiding
May 25, 2009
Of course, the title of this article is just a guess on my part.
But it is probably a pretty safe guess.
Let’s face it, in spite of her penchant for making outlandish statements about America’s military, she didn’t get to where she is by being totally dim-witted.
Today is Memorial Day, a day to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep America the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Even for those who consider military vets to be potential terrorists.
Yes, even for people like Ms. Napolitano and her cronies at the Department of Homeland Security.
So if she has any common sense at all, she will not show her face in public today.
Because I feel safe in saying that there is not one veteran, not one person who came out to watch a Memorial Day parade, nor anyone who is visiting the gravesite of a loved who gave their life in service to our country, who wants to see her face in public today.
I only wish there was a way for her to see the video below, maybe then she might begin to understand that it is only through the actions individuals like this that make it possible for her to voice the viewpoints that she does, as twisted as they may be.
Ms. Napolatino, our country is going through some really hard times right now, and there are many who wonder if the United States will survive.
Allow me to assure you, and the rest of the citizens of this great land, that we will get through this.
In spite of people like yourself.
First US Trial Planned For Gitmo Terrorist
May 24, 2009
It would appear that the beatdown President Obama recently received from Congress regarding funding to close down Guantanamo Bay hasn’t slowed him down any.
In the twisted (liberal) sense of wanting to ”provide fair treatment” to individuals who are hell-bent on causing as much death and destruction to America and it’s citizens as they can, these pinheads are about to bring to trial a man who was a bodyguard for Osama bin Laden as if he were a purse snatcher.
Considering that the United States Congress understands that transferring Gitmo detainees to American prisons is foolhardy and/or political suicide, doesn’t anyone out there wonder what the hell they will do with this guy when he is convicted?
Penn Jillette: Why I’m a Libertarian Nut Instead of Just a Nut
May 23, 2009
I don’t speak for all Libertarians any more than Sean Penn speaks for all Democrats. I’m not even sure my LP membership card is up to date. I’ve voted Libertarian as long as I can remember but I don’t really remember much before the Clintons and the Bushes. Those clans made a lot of us bugnutty. When I go on Glenn’s show he calls me a Libertarian, I think that’s my only real credential.
There are historical reasons and pragmatic reasons to be a Libertarian, but there are historic and pragmatic reasons to be a Democrat, a Republican or a Socialist. I don’t know if everyone would… Read the rest of this entry
Islam In The American Classrooms
May 22, 2009
If you have children in grammar or high school, like most parents you are probably under the assumption that what your kids are being taught is factual, honest and unbiased.
Don’t count on it.
You may be surprised to learn that your children are only being taught part of the truth, and that some important details are being left out.
My question is, with all of their rhetoric about the separation of church and sate, how is it that the ACLU is silent on the issue of a religious sect influencing classroom studies?
